1. About moneeAI
moneeAI (“the App”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is a personal finance tracking application that helps you log income and expenses, set budgets, scan receipts, and view spending insights. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
moneeAI is developed and operated by Xavier Lee as an independent application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any bank, financial institution, or government body.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following information when you use moneeAI:
- Account information — your name, email address, and authentication provider (Google or Apple) when you sign in.
- Transaction data — income and expense transactions you manually enter, including amount, category, date, and optional notes.
- Budget data — monthly spending limits you configure for each category.
- Custom categories — category names, icons, and colours you create (Plus subscribers only).
- App preferences — your display name, currency, theme, and feature settings (e.g. Face ID, haptic feedback).
- Subscription status — your current plan and entitlements, managed via RevenueCat and Apple App Store.
- Receipt images — if you use the Receipt Scanner feature, photos are processed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit. Images are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service.
- Device usage data — basic device information (OS version, device type) used solely to ensure compatibility and improve the App's stability.
We do not collect bank account credentials, card numbers, PINs, OTPs, or any financial account access tokens. All transaction data is entered manually by you. We do not connect to your bank.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- To display your transaction history, budgets, and financial summaries within the App.
- To generate rule-based spending insights and overspend alerts based on your transaction patterns (Plus feature).
- To match and display credit card recommendations from our internal catalogue based on your top spending categories. These recommendations are informational only and do not constitute financial advice. Recommendations are currently tailored to Singapore.
- To synchronise your data across your devices via our secure cloud database.
- To authenticate your identity securely through your chosen sign-in provider.
- To manage your subscription entitlements and verify your Plus status.
- To send critical service communications (e.g. account security). We do not send promotional emails without your explicit opt-in.
We will never: sell your personal data to third parties, use your data for advertising targeting, share your financial information with any organisation outside the App's listed service providers, or use your data to train external AI or machine learning models.
4. Third-Party Services
moneeAI uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:
- Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, cloud database (Firestore). Data is stored on Google's secure servers globally. firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) — OAuth 2.0 authentication. Your Google profile name and email are shared with the App on sign-in.
- Apple Sign-In (Apple Inc.) — OAuth authentication. You may choose to hide your email using Apple's private relay feature.
- RevenueCat Inc. — subscription management and purchase verification. RevenueCat processes your App Store receipt to determine your subscription status. No payment card details are shared with RevenueCat — all billing is handled exclusively by Apple. Note that RevenueCat retains purchase history on their own servers in accordance with their privacy policy, even after account deletion. revenuecat.com/privacy
- Google ML Kit (on-device) — optical character recognition (OCR) used by the Receipt Scanner feature. All image processing occurs entirely on your device; no images or text are sent to Google or any server.
We do not integrate with any advertising, data broker, or third-party analytics services beyond those listed above.
5. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
moneeAI offers an optional paid subscription (“moneeAI Plus”) that unlocks additional features. The following terms apply to all in-app purchases:
- Billing — all purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Your Apple ID account will be charged upon confirmation of purchase.
- Plans — moneeAI Plus is available as a monthly subscription (US$3.99/month) or an annual subscription (US$29.99/year). Prices may vary by region and are displayed in the App at the time of purchase.
- Auto-renewal — subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID account will be charged within 24 hours before the renewal date.
- Cancellation — you can cancel at any time via iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; access to Plus features continues until that date.
- Refunds — all purchases are subject to Apple's refund policy. moneeAI does not process refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Free trials — if a free trial is offered, unused portions of any free trial period will be forfeited upon subscribing to a paid plan.
- Restore purchases — if you reinstall the App or switch devices, use the “Restore purchase” option on the subscription screen to re-activate your existing Plus entitlement at no charge.
Subscription management is handled by Apple. moneeAI has no access to your payment information.
6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in two locations:
- On your device — in encrypted local storage for instant offline access.
- In the cloud — in Firebase Firestore, protected by security rules that ensure only you can read or write your own data. Access requires a valid authenticated session.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), authentication-gated database access, and per-user write rate limiting. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats.
Receipt images processed by the Receipt Scanner are never stored — they are discarded immediately after text extraction occurs on your device.
iCloud Backup — data stored locally on your device may be included in your iCloud backup if iCloud Backup is enabled in your iOS settings. You can exclude moneeAI from iCloud backups via iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Show All → moneeAI.
Cross-border data transfer — as moneeAI is operated from Singapore and uses Firebase (Google LLC), your personal data may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside Singapore. By using the App, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that any such transfer is conducted in accordance with applicable Singapore law and that recipients maintain a comparable standard of data protection.
Data breach notification — in the event of a data breach that affects 500 or more individuals, or that is likely to result in significant harm, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Singapore within 3 business days and inform affected users as required under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).
7. Device Permissions
moneeAI requests the following device permissions, used solely for the stated purpose:
- Camera & Photo Library — used only when you choose to scan a receipt via the Receipt Scanner. Images are processed on-device and never uploaded.
- Face ID / Touch ID — used to lock the App behind biometric authentication when you enable this option in Settings. Biometric data never leaves your device.
You may revoke any permission at any time via iOS Settings → moneeAI. Revoking a permission disables the corresponding feature.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access — you can view all your data at any time within the App.
- Correction — you can edit any transaction, budget, or setting directly within the App.
- Deletion — you can delete individual transactions or reset all data via the Profile screen. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, use the “Delete Account” option in Profile → Data. This action is irreversible.
- Access — you can view all your transaction history, budgets, and settings within the App at any time.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Subscription cancellation does not delete your account or data.
9. Children's Privacy
moneeAI is not intended for use by persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us at devxavierleeeugene@gmail.com.
10. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
moneeAI is a personal finance tracking tool and does not constitute financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Spending insights, overspend alerts, and credit card recommendations are informational only and generated from your own transaction data. Always consult a qualified financial professional before making financial decisions.
Credit card information displayed in the App is sourced from our own catalogue and is provided for general reference. Reward rates, fees, and terms are subject to change by the issuing bank. Always verify details directly with the card issuer before applying.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Xavier Lee and moneeAI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits or data, arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
For material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice or email (if provided) at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
12. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore. Users in the European Union or European Economic Area may have additional rights under applicable local law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
